Fred Kron, MD, is an Assistant Professor (Adjunct), Department of Internal Medicine, Section of General Internal Medicine, Yale School of Medicine, and a Research Assistant Professor (Adjunct), Department of Family Medicine, University of Michigan Medical School.
Fred is the Founder and CEO of MCI. He’s also a cancer survivor who understands the importance of caring communication from the patient’s perspective. “Healthcare communication has been my focus since I was a teenager and I saw the distress that hospital staff caused my mother when she was dying of lung cancer. Surviving cancer myself, and personally witnessing as a physician the harms of communication failure helped to sharpen my determination to improve the way caregivers interact with patients, and with one another.”
Utilizing an uncommon blend of experiences in medical practice and research, in television screenwriting and in game design, Dr. Kron founded Medical Cyberworlds (MCI) to help caregivers better express empathy and develop trust and rapport with their patients. Since then, aided by some remarkable and dedicated physicians, psychologists, educators technicians and computer scientists, the company has grown into a cognitive computing enterprise focused on utilizing Artificial Intelligence to nurture Emotional Intelligence, to address human suffering, in healthcare and beyond.
